LIVINGSTON, TX (KTRE) -

Livingston Police say a boy's death on Thursday was the result of a freak accident and there are no signs of foul play.

According to a press release from Det. Leon Middleton, police were dispatched to Memorial Medical Center after a child, Francisco Emmanuel Mendez, 13, was brought to the emergency room by vehicle and died.

According to family and friends, Mendez was at a Livingston church practicing for an upcoming dance he was going to perform at the MLK multicultural event when he lost his footing and fell into a nearby glass cabinet and then struck his head on the floor.

After the fall, Mendez began having medical problems and family took him to the hospital, where he died.

Justice of the Peace Steven McEntyre has ordered an autopsy.
