Business owner eyes city council seat

Posted: Updated:

John Nix, owner of Nix Construction has announced his plans to run for the District 6 seat on the Tyler City Council.

Nix's announcement comes the same day District 6 Councilman Jason Wright announced he is stepping down to work as Regional Director for the regional center for U.S. Senator Ted Cruz.

John Nix is the owner of Nix Construction and has served on the Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission, but this will be his first time running for an elected office.

He tells KLTV 7 "I really trusted Jason, and I liked the work he did at City Hall, and I want to make sure that he gets replaced with somebody that has the same values and view points that he did, and believes that our city is headed in the right direction."
