CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Two women were robbed in Rusk on Sunday night as they were leaving a local radio station where they had been broadcasting a radio show.

Every Sunday, the women record a church program on KWRW (97.7). As they were walking out of the radio station, two black males approached them. According to Jamie Campbell of the Rusk Police Department, the men tried to take a purse from one of the women and an altercation ensued. One of the women was hit multiple times with a handgun by the robbers and the other woman fell to the ground. The robbers then fled the scene on foot with the purse.

The women suffered only minor cuts and bruises.

The robbers are described as being of slim to medium build, about 5'7" tall. One was wearing a red hoodie and the other a black hoodie. They both wore black pants.
