After a traffic stop on Highway 19 and the loop in Crockett, a 49-year-old woman was arrested a charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance Saturday.
Elizabeth Ann Brewer was taken to the Houston County Jail on a felony charge of manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams. She was released on a $30,000 bond on Sunday.
On Saturday, the Houston County Sheriff's Office received a tip that a woman was going to be traveling to Houston to pick up approximately one ounce of methamphetamine and was going to bring it back to Crockett, according to the arrest affidavit. The HCSO also learned an approximate time that the woman would be arriving in the Crockett area.
A HCSO deputy and an investigator saw a vehicle with California license plates pull up to the intersection of Highway 19 and the Loop. They initiated a traffic stop after the driver of the car failed to signal her turn properly and later failed to signal a lane change.
Later in the traffic stop Brewer allegedly admitted to having methamphetamine in her purse. The HCSO deputy looked in her purse and found a plastic bag "with a large amount of crystal-like substance inside believed to be methamphetamine." In addition, the deputy also found a small pink carrying case with another plastic bag containing more of the same crystal-like substance, a glass pipe used for smoking meth, and a digital scale, according to the affidavit.
Before she was handcuffed, Brewer pulled another clear plastic bag from her pocket and gave it to the deputy. More of the crystal-like substance was allegedly found inside.
