A 27-year-old Glendale man suffered serious head injuries when he crashed his motorcycle in Scottsdale early Thursday morning.
Scottsdale police said John Reeves left a gas station at the northwest corner of Scottsdale Road and Gold Dust Avenue on a 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle about 12:45 a.m. and began going the wrong way on southbound Scottsdale Road. He hit the median curb, was thrown from the motorcycle and ended up in the northbound lanes, according to police.
Police said Reeves was not wearing a helmet and that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
He was unresponsive and taken to Scottsdale Healthcare-Osborn Hospital for surgery, police said. His condition was not made available.
Scottsdale Road was closed for about four hours, police said.
