Fiesta Bowl pumps millions of dollars into the Valley

GLENDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

They all have their eyes on the prize - the trophy up for grabs during tomorrow's BCS Fiesta Bowl.

This game is going to be a big shot in the arm for the economy. Thousands of fans will spend millions of dollars.

Oregon Ducks fans have been flocking to Calico Jacks Cantina at Westgate. It's the official bar for the Ducks.

"All week long we've seen the fans coming in," said Manager Steven Ratliff. "The economic impact is just amazing from the Fiesta Bowl."

More workers are out on the floor to keep up with the pace of business and excitement.

"You'll see it like in this cocktail lounge, everybody's wearing green," said Ducks fan Bob McCutchen.

Kim Larson with the city of Glendale said last year's Fiesta Bowl brought in about $300 million for the state. Today many people already spent a lot of cash.

"We've done our part to help the economy," said Wildcats fan Rick Marriot. "Maybe a little bit too much."

Some are still making plans for the weekend.

"Gonna do some golfing, maybe drive down to Tombstone and check that area out," said Ducks fan Glen Phillips.

But Glendale isn't the only city getting a piece of the pie. Chase Field held the Kansas State pep rally in downtown Phoenix and the Oregon Ducks pep rally was in Scottsdale.

"It's a good economic engine for us every year," said Larson.

A tailgate party will take place tomorrow at the University of Phoenix stadium parking lot. That'll cost $30, which means thousands more could be spent here because of the game.
