'Corpse flower' blooms on Christmas Day

Posted: Updated:

Flower fanatics are flocking to Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens to witness a rare, yet unpleasant event. A spectacular flower has bloomed, causing a real stink.

The amorphophallus titanium, nicknamed the 'corpse flower,' only blooms for a couple days in its six year life.

The flower gives off the distinct smell of a rotting corpse to attract pollinating flies and beetles.

Just don't give it to your sweetheart for Valentine's Day.
