Not many people live to be 100 years old, but one San Augustine couple did just that.
Naomi Garner will celebrate her 100th birthday this Saturday. Her husband, Herman, celebrated his in late June.
"I never drank, smoke. I never took on any of those bad habits," said Herman. "I started in, I obeyed my parents. I was good and when I grew up in age, I never stayed out all night. I never did gamble or do anything."
Naomi had a stroke last year, leaving her unable to speak in full sentences. But Herman says they are healthy because their parents raised them with good discipline. They say today's parents should give their children more responsibility because it leads to a healthier lifestyle.
