An East Texas grade-schooler is showing her holiday spirit with an unselfish gesture to help families in Newtown, CT.
Lainee Cornell, 8, a Spring Hill third grader, felt the sorrow of the families in Newtown, and came up with an idea. She's helping organize her church and friends for a bake sale/arts and crafts fundraiser to raise money for the families affected.
The child's simple and heartfelt sincerity, has motivated many to rally behind her.
"I want to help you so much, to raise enough money to pay for their funerals," Lainee says.
"I was very proud of her for thinking of other children before herself," says Lainee's mother Tisa Deloach.
"For someone of her age to realize at the weakest moment of life your having to go through the hardest thing of arranging a funeral that's what amazes me is that she saw that," says Lainee's father Larry Cornell.
The fundraiser will be held on December 29th from 10-am to 4-pm at Calvary Tabernacle at 301 East Hawkins parkway in Longview.
