Former DPS Trooper Sentenced To Life

A former DPS trooper from Terrell is sentenced for a murder-for-hire in Tyler.

Darryl Woods, 38, pleaded guilty last month to conspiracy to commit murder. Today he received 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Munsel Joe Van Zandt was found shot to death in his car in March of last year.

Police say the four people involved are also linked to bank and hotel robberies in Dallas. One of the men was sentenced earlier this year to life in prison, another to 45 years.
