WOOD COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
A utility pole snapped on Thursday morning, sparking a fire in eastern Wood County.
According to Wood County Emergency Management Coordinator Randy Selman, the pole broke off at the ground on County Road 3588, catching nearby pine trees on fire.
About 50 acres are burning at this time, however, crews have good containment on the fire at this time. Selman says the fire will be burning for a while.
Four homes are threatened by this fire.
Prarieville Fire Department is in command of the scene. The Texas A&M Forest Service is also on the scene.
