3 ETX fire departments respond to church fire in Henderson Co.

ATHENS, TX (KLTV) -

Athens Fire Department, along with Payne Springs and Brownsboro volunteer fire departments, responded to a fire this morning in  Henderson County.

The fire occurred inside the First Church of the Nazarene in Athens at about 7:15 a.m.

The fire seemed to have started on the stage area of the church, and officials say it was possibly electrical in nature. There was moderate damage to the sanctuary and minor smoke damage elsewhere in the church building.

Athens Fire Chief John McQueary said  that the fire is under investigation and that there were no injuries.
