MOUNT PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) -

The Mount Pleasant Police Department is investigating a string of thefts from the Pilgrim's Pride plant in Mount Pleasant.

Plant management reported a series of thefts that lead detectives to a suspect who was later identified as Rickey Alton Wright, a maintenance employee at the facility.

Police have located around $40,00 of property and plant management is working with detectives to recover other items that may have been sold by the suspect. All items stolen were industrial and electronic equipment. None of the items stolen were food.

So far over $225,000 of stolen property has been linked directly to the suspect. Authorities believe the suspect was selling the items far cheaper than they were worth.

"This is an ongoing criminal investigation with many leads still being followed up on," said Mount Pleasant Police Chief Wayne Isbell. "Several companies are working with our agency helping us track where all the stolen items went.  From the onset of this case the deeper detectives look into the thefts the more evidence they find.  The suspect has been stealing from the company for some time but has left us a good trail to follow."

A warrant was issued for Wright for theft of property over $200,000, a second degree felony. He turned himself into the Titus County Sheriff's Office on December 11th and is currently in custody with bail set at $500,000.

Wright ws indicted by a Titus County Grand Jury for Theft over $200,000.
