5 men arrested for attempted ATM theft, ETX crime spree

The Tyler Police have arrest five of the seven suspects they believe are responsible for the crime spree that occurred early Wednesday morning.

According to police, the suspects stole a van from Dickey's BBQ on Loop 323 at 1:20 a.m. The suspects then attempted to steal an ATM machine from Texas Bank and Trust on West Grande Boulevard. After failing to remove the ATM from it's pedestal, the suspects ditched the vehicle behind Brookshire's Fresh store and got back into their personal vehicles.

They proceeded to a Kidd Jones convenience store on Highway 155 South and burglarized the business.

At around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, a Van Zandt sheriff's deputy witnessed two vehicles driving slowly on the I-20 service road between Highway 17 and Highway 1255. The deputy followed the vehicles to a mini-warehouse complex. When he attempted to question the suspects, they fled on foot, at which time the deputy called for assistance.

With help from the Canton Police Department, Grand Saline Police Department, Van Police Department and a DPS helicopter, the five suspects were apprehended.

The suspects have been identified as Labradford Lamont Hunter, 20, of Mesquite, Earle Wayne Few, Jr., 23, of Dallas, Marque Kaleb Hart, 21, of Terrell, James Darron Miller, Jr., 25, of Dallas and Johnathan Christopher Adams, 29, of Terrell.

All five suspects have been charged with Theft of Property, a State Jail Felony, Criminal Attempt (Attempted theft of ATM), a Felony 3rd degree, and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, a Felony 2nd degree. The total bond on each suspect is set at $350,000. These charges are for offenses committed in Tyler, TX only.

Investigators are still working on identifying two suspects that got away when the arrest was made in Van Zandt County.  This case remains under investigation.
