Suspect arrested after standoff in Texarkana, TX

TEXARKANA, TX (KSLA) -

Hours after it began, authorities arrested a man following of standoff in Texarkana, Texas, where he allegedly threatened to harm other people.

Police say it all started around 4 p.m. Tuesday, when a man in the 1500 block of W. 10th Street began making threats of harming others.

As officers arrived on the scene, the suspect ran into a home in the same block and barricaded the doors. The owners of the home were not at the residence at the time. Witnesses say the man reportedly had a gun and was pointing it at them.

Police blocked off the road and are moved people out of nearby houses during the standoff.

Police say they received several 911 calls from a man that said he was the person inside the home, however, he would not identify himself. Police say after two hours, all of the calls stopped.

During the next several hours, officers shot tear gas into the home but the man suspect stayed inside. Around 11:10pm, members of the Texarkana Metro SWAT team made entry into the residence and found 36 year old Tijuan Moore, of Texarkana, Arkansas, hiding in a closet. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police did not find a gun when Moore was arrested.

Moore was taken to the Bi-State Justice Center and is awaiting bond on the charge of criminal trespass of a habitation. Other charges are pending.

No one was injured.
