Local trivia buffs progress in Jeopardy audition

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Some local trivia buffs got the chance to audition for Jeopardy on Friday.

The first step was passing an online test, and they were then selected at random to audition in person.

On Friday, they took a test with 50 categories at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Cincinnati, and then played a mock game using actual buzzers.

The senior contestant coordinator offered some advice for someone who'd like to try out for the show.

"Most people don't realize that you have to wait for him to finish reading before you answer in the form of a question. Your eyes scans a little quicker than Alex can read it, but the problem is, you don't want to lock yourself out".

He also said to keep watching the show to find out when the next round of auditions will take place.

Sometimes, Alex Trebek even shows up to the audition.

No word yet on how many hopefuls made it through to the next round.
