SCSO Chief Deputy retires after more than 32 years

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

Chief Deputy Bobby Garmon gave Sheriff J.B. Smith his letter of retirement on Thursday.

In that letter, he thanked Sheriff Smith for mentoring him.

Garmon says he will remain active in the community and is thankful for his former job.

"I really enjoyed working here. I really enjoyed working with people, I enjoyed helping people being around people and so I really enjoyed my work here," says Chief Garmon.

A retirement reception honoring Chief Garmon, Sheriff J.B. Smith, Chief Gary Pinkerton and Harvey Tanner will be held on Friday December 21 at the Smith County Courthouse annex building.
