Heisman finalist Manziel gets help from East Texas uncle

With 43 touchdowns and a new Southeastern Conference record in total offense, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel plays with a style all his own. His uncle Harley Hooper knows all about style.

Hooper has owned Harley's clothing store in Tyler for more than 30 years. He also has a store in College Station.  Uncle Harley is making sure his nephew looks as just as good off the field, as he does on it.

"Probably the most important person I've ever dressed for something this world wide," said Hooper.

After receiving an invite to the Heisman Trophy presentation in New York, Manziel knew his uncle could help.

"My uncle is one of the guys I looked up to," said Manziel.  "If I wanted to dress like somebody, I would dress like him every single day. He's one of the best dressers that I've had the privilege to be around."

Hooper says he's always had a great relationship with his nephew.

"I never knew he looked at me as a fashion icon," said Hooper.  "I went through school working at a store like this. It's all I've ever known so if I haven't picked up a few things by now it's probably a little too late."

Hooper has a grey suit picked out for the College Football Awards show on Thursday in Florida and a classic dark blue suit for the Heisman presentation on Saturday.  His nephew has added his own touch, with a pair of Scooby Doo socks.

"We're probably going to go look at that in New York in January just because of Johnny Manziel and Johnny Football," said Hooper.  "Scooby Doo hadn't been one of the things that we'd been looking for until Johnny started wearing it. But we're probably going to have to have it."
