A Little Free Library just for you

Posted: Updated:
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

They are mini-libraries that have been popping up all over the world, and now there are three right here in East Texas.

Little Free Libraries is an international organization that encourages people to build small, bird house-sized libraries for people to share books.

In Tyler, Randy Mallory and Sallie Evans have set up one on 518 First St. in the Azalea District. They said they got the idea from visiting their daughter's neighborhood.

"We were up this summer visiting our daughter in Minnesota and we saw probably five or six in her neighborhood. We thought it was a great idea and that we'd bring it to Tyler," Mallory said.

The Little Free Library is simple; just look up a Little Free Library location on their website, borrow a book, read it, and then return either that book or another.

"The books are there for just anyone who wants to borrow a book. We have books for kids and books for grown ups," Evans said.

This is the only one in Tyler, but there's another in Whitehouse at 813 Keble Rd, and there's one in Lufkin.

"I think it's great. I love reading and I think anyone who wants to share the love of reading with the neighborhood is wonderful," said neighbor Sonia Semone.
