Now that tolls are being charged on Loop 49, customer service representatives from TxTag will be at the Harvey Convention Center in Tyler from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday of this week to open new accounts or service existing accounts.
"If you still need a TxTag, this is your last chance for a while to buy one in person," said TxDOT spokesman Larry Krantz. "These three days you can walk in with a need and walk out with a TxTag, put it on your windshield and go."
The representatives will be in the rear parking lot of the convention center, just across from the Rose Garden Center main entrance.
In order to purchase a tag, you will need the license plate number of each car that needs a tag. There is a $20 charge for each tag, but that $20 will be applied to your account for use on toll roads.
Drivers can purchase TxTAGs anytime by logging onto www.txtag.org or by calling TxTag customer service during regular business hours at 1-888-Go-TxTag.
TxTag stickers contain a microchip which receives a signal from electronic readers above toll road, automatically deducting funds from drivers' prepaid TxTAG accounts.
