No witnesses, no suspects; Longview double murder investigation stalled

Mystery continues to surround an October double murder that claimed the lives of an East Texas mother and daughter.

On Oct. 10, Longview police found the bodies of Latoya Reese and her daughter, Mya, at a duplex on Jester Court. Their murders shocked an entire city, shattering the emotions of those who knew Reese and her daughter.

"We just are looking for anyone that may have information that can help us close this case out. The longer the case goes, the fewer the leads that come in," said Longview police officer Kristie Brian.

Weeks later, police are no closer to an arrest or even identifying a suspect.

"At this point, I don't know if we really have any witnesses or not," Brian said.

Police believe fear may be hindering anyone coming forward. There's still no theory on a possible motive or who could have done it.

"It still leaves us with plenty of questions," Brian said.

"I was devastated. I just couldn't believe it. I knew her from when she lived next to us," said family friend Will Miller.

Reese's ex-husband remains jailed, but he is not named as a suspect.

"At this point, I don't know what part the ex-husband plays in this. He is still in jail," said Brian. "The husband was jailed on other charges not related to this particular case. We don't know who did it," Brian said.

Police continue to ask for help from the public. Anyone with any information is asked to call Longview police.
