Former horse trainer and jockey Margo Dewkett opened Windridge Therapeutic Equestrian Center in 1988.
During its 24 year existence, over a hundred thousand children with disabilities have been helped by the horse therapy offered there. Dewkett says the horses' movements help children physically and their riding accomplishments help their self esteem.
Windridge is supported by donations from East Texans and it has never received state or federal funding. For more information on Windridge or to make donations go to www.windridgetexas.org.
