UT officers try to coax intruder out of office with French fries

Posted: Updated:

AUSTIN, TX (KLTV) - In the early morning hours on Tuesday, University of Texas campus police responded to various alarms in room eight in the UT Tower. The alarms occurred within a few minutes of each other, according to campus police, starting at about 2:41 a.m.

Officers noted that someone had entered the room through the ceiling. They saw that the air conditioner vent and other materials from the ceiling were spread over the floor.

The officers report that they began searching the room, an office, and discovered a masked intruder attempting to hide from them. The intruder, who is described as 3 feet tall and wearing a brown and black striped coat, furry gloves and black mask over his eyes, was trying to conceal himself by hanging on to the wall molding and a window blind.

The officers tried to coax him out by offering him their Jack in the Box French fries, the police report says, to no avail.

The non-UT student, a racoon,  escaped through an open window, evading the officers. He is still on the loose.
