Canton's Ashley Beals signs with MVSU

CANTON, MS (Mississippi News Now) -

Canton High School basketball standout Ashley Beals signed to play basketball for Mississippi Valley on Thursday.

She averaged 15 points and ten rebounds a game as a junior for Lady Tigers.

She says playing basketball in the SWAC is a dream come true.

"I didn't think I was going to play basketball actually. I wanted to dance, and when a coach told me that I could play basketball, that's just what I have been doing ever since. It's going to be good because my family can come see me play, and I feel more comfortable," said Beals.
