TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Tyler ISD is now taking resumes to officially name the district's
next superintendent.
This is the third time in the last 10 years TISD has had to hire a
new superintendent and this time the process is going to be a little different.
The school board decided Thursday night that they will not use a
search agency to find their next superintendent. Instead, they are accepting resumes
for the next 10 days and will announce the loan finalist at a special board
meeting on November 28.
Interim superintendent Gary Mooring's resume will be among those
considered and the board says, while they will look at other applicants, they
are confident in Mooring's ability to continue leading the district.
"It's interesting that sometimes your best candidate is sitting
right next to you and we feel like that's the case," says Brad Spradlin, a TISD
board member.
Mooring says he feels humbled and is glad the board is happy with
the work he is doing as interim superintendent.
"I just
hope to continue working until the decision is made, to do the job and the best
I can for Tyler. I live in Tyler and my family is here in Tyler, so I'm looking
forward to continuing on with that," Mooring says.
After the
lone finalist is announced on November 28, the board will accept community
input for 21 days before officially hiring the new superintendent.
