NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches County Sheriff's deputies arrested a 43-year-old man after he allegedly attacked his daughter's boyfriend with a machete Sunday evening.

Javier Santoyo Garcia, 43, of Nacogdoches, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which is a second-degree felony. No bond has been set at this time.

At about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 100 block of Valley View Drive on a disturbance with a weapon call. When they got there, they learned that Garcia had gotten upset that his daughter's boyfriend, who had gotten her pregnant, was at their residence. Garcia allegedly started hitting the young man with a machete.

No further information is available on whether the boyfriend was injured in the assault.
