It's an afternoon of adventure inside one East Texas comic store. John, who is usually quiet, is right at home. He enjoys playing with his pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards. In fact, it's not just a passion, he hopes to make it a career.
"For me I want to build this holographic stuff for Yu-Gi-Oh to where kids won't have to put down the card and say what it does," John said. "Instead, it will pop up on the holographic board and the monster and it will do what it does."
He loves to dual with his cards. The 14-year-old freshman also loves to skateboard, play video games and follow sports.
"Baseball, Rangers," John said. He also likes to watch the Mavericks.
John enjoys trips out to eat and is not a picky eater. He especially likes Dairy Queen ice cream.
"Ice cream. What flavor? Reeses."
When it comes to his forever family, he looks forward to weekend family fun and vacations.
"Watch movies, go see some ranger games," he said. "I haven't been to Walt Disney yet or Universal Studios. I've always wanted to go there and see Jurassic Park."
He's seen all three Jurassic Park movies and has the book. John would like to maintain a relationship with his sisters through phone calls or letters.
John will benefit from a family who will provide him with unconditional love, support and a safe environment. He will also need a family to encourage him to achieve his life goals, like going to college.
"Because I feel like I need a second chance," John said.
A second chance at a place to call home and a family to show him the Gift of Love.
