ETX serial armed robbery suspect on the loose

JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) -

The FBI has joined Jacksonville Police in the search for a serial robbery suspect.

Investigators have identified 26-year-old Kendall Deshun Lucas as the person responsible for at least three armed robberies.

Police are in the process of getting three active arrest warrants for Lucas.

Last night, police tried to capture Lucas after getting a tip he was hiding out in the 2000 block of Briarwood Drive in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville police released a photo of Lucas robbing a convenience store from about a month ago.

"We've had numerous people from the city that knows this gentleman and has come forward and said, that's who it is, by viewing the still photographs we have from the armed robberies," said Detective James Oden with Jacksonville Police Department.

Police say Lucas was involved in two other armed robberies, and maybe even a fourth.

Jacksonville police, along with the FBI and a DPS helicopter, tried to capture Lucas on a parole violation for a previous warrant.

"We were trying to surround the residence, and he happened to be outside when we were getting into position. He spotted us and it turned into a foot pursuit," said Oden.

Lucas reportedly jumped a six foot fence behind the residence, and took off down the street into a deep wooded area.

"He was able to slip through our perimeter and make his way to a residential area, and once he gets into a residential, area it's almost impossible to find him again," said Oden.

Authorities are continuing their search for Lucas, and want to stress the importance of finding him.

"This is also a joint federal investigation and if he is apprehended at anybody's residence, then they will be charged in this case as well," warned Oden.

The FBI and Texas Crimestoppers are offering a reward for anyone who can help identify and locating Kendall Lucas.
