ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
The human remains found on the side of an East Texas highway on Oct. 14 have been identified as a Tyler area woman, according to officials.
Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor said the woman was ID'd as Deborah Leanne Vickery, 35. Taylor said she died from a gunshot wound. Officials are investigating the case as a homicide.
The remains were found on Texas Highway 155 near FM 321. A landowner found the remains and called authorities. According to Anderson County Chief Deputy Troy Black, the remains were so badly decomposed, investigators were unable to determine the age or sex of body at the scene.
The Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 903-729-8477.
