Teen With Cerebral Palsy Helps With Blood Drive

A 17-year-old East Texan with cerebral palsy is telling his story to get more people to donate blood.

Chris Bigley of Van will soon undergo a hip replacement surgery. He says he needs only one pint of blood, but there are many others who need more. So he got Stewart Regional Blood Center to sponsor a blood drive tomorrow at the Van United Methodist Church.

"I figure if I can get my pint off this blood drive, maybe we can get 10, 20 times more than that to help other people that really need it out there," Bigley said.

The blood drive is tomorrow from 9a.m. to 1p.m. at the Van United Methodist Church at 326 W. Main in Van. For more information, call 903-963-1255. Everyone who donates will receive a T-shirt.
