There's a new tool available for families trying to find a place for their elderly loved ones to spend their twilight years.
This new tool, Nursing Home Inspect by Pro Publica, lets users examine deficiency trends at nursing homes nationwide.
Before now, the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) had only put online narrative details of these deficiencies from a nursing homes most recent routine inspection, along with 16 months of complaint inspections.
Now, CMS is including the details of a home's three most recent routine inspections. Which for many homes, that means results from 2009 and 2010 are now available online. Before now, this was only available by filing a Freedom of Information request.
Click here to go to Nursing Home Inspect and check out deficiency reports on nursing homes in Texas and nationwide.
