SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -
A Smith County Sheriff Deputy's son pleaded guilty in court for criminal negligent homicide.
Authorities say Jared Stinecipher, 25, left the scene of a Dec. 17, 2011, crash that killed a Tyler man.
Police say Stinecipher left his truck and ran into the woods as first responders rushed Arthur Murphy, 50, to a hospital where he later died.
Sentencing for Stinecipher is scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 7. He faces up to 10 years in jail and a fine up to $10,000. He remains in the Smith County Jail.
