Driver taking wife to ER t-bones off-duty police officer's vehicle

TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

According to Tyler police, an accident occurred today in Tyler involving a driver rushing to the emergency room.

A man was traveling south on Beckham heading toward the hospital with his wife who had cut her finger and needed medical help.

The driver ran the red light at Beckham and Erwin to try to travel more quickly, according to police at the scene, and t-boned a late 1970's model Mercedes driven by an off-duty Tyler police officer.

The man's Toyota Camry was totaled, and the Mercedes received damaged to one side.

No one was injured in the accident, but an ambulance did arrive to assist the woman with her cut finger.

The man was cited for running the red light.
