TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Police are investigating five early morning burglaries in Tyler.
The first one happened just after 2 a.m., in the 1800 block of Southeast Loop 323 near Paluxy at the Laundry Room.
According to police, an alarm sounded at the laundromat when a side window was broken.
Two men, 20-year-old Lucarus Butler and 17-year-old, Matthew Taylor of Tyler were stopped because they were close to the laundromat when the possible break-in occurred, and they had some questionable items in their backpack.
Both men were arrested for possession of criminal instruments and attempted burglary.
Then officers responded to a burglary call around 3:30 a.m. at XNL at 2109 E. 5th Street and Mama's Restaurant at 2105 E. 5th Street . Officers found broken windows at both businesses. Police say Taquerie E! Lugar at 2121 E. Fifth Street was also burglarized.
Almost an hour later at 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a burglary call at the Midway Food Mart at 533 S. Broadway. When officers arrived on the scene they found the business had been broken into. However, they could not gain entrance into the store because of bars on the door.
The suspect, 18-year-old, Damarian Amie of Tyler was apprehended nearby and arrested for attempted burglary. Police say he was with another suspect, who ran from police.
Police say they don't believe the first burglary at The Laundry Room is related to the other four businesses off Fifth Street and S. Broadway.
