LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A Gregg County man is arrested after a two-hour standoff.

It happened north of Longview in North Hidden Forest.

The Gregg County Sheriff's Department and Department of Public Safety responded to an assault/family violence call around 10:30 Sunday night.

When police arrived Jesus Salaiz answered the door with a rifle. He went back in the house and would not give up. He reportedly came back outside several times, sometimes with a weapon, sometimes not.

At one point Salaiz pointed his gun at deputies and Trooper James Ammons fired at the suspect and missed.

By around 12:30 Salaiz gave up and was arrested.

He was taken to a hospital for a mental evaluation, then booked in to Gregg County Jail around 3:30 am.
