Grace Jones Miller had wanted to be a nurse as far back as she could remember.
Grace finished nursing school in 1940 and within two years time and the
onset of World War Two, the young Pennsylvania nurse had joined the army
nurse corps.
Within a short time, Grace was aboard a troop ship headed overseas.
The 42nd general hospital was set up in a former Australian nunnery to
treat the wounded from the battles in the pacific and the Japanese
bombings in Northern Australia.
