ETX man shot and killed at club, suspect charged with Capital Murder
JACKSONVILLE, TX (KLTV) -
An East Texas man is dead and another is in jail after a deadly shooting at a club early Saturday morning.
Officials within the Jacksonville Police Department responded to a call of a shooting at Stacy's Club located in the 2000 block of north Jackson St. in Jacksonville around 4am. Upon arrival officers found that 43-year-old Stacy Dewayne Hunter had been shot. EMS was called to the scene but Hunter died at the scene.
Witnesses at the scene provided a description of the suspected shooter to police. The suspect turned himself in to police around 6:30 and is identified as 24-year-old Jimmy Deshawn Mosley.
Mosley is charged with Capital murder and his bond has been set at $250,000. He is still in custody.
Friends in the community say that Hunter was involved in numerous community activities including coaching youth sports. They also say that Hunter knew Mosley and that hey had problems in the past. Hunter was the owner of the club and also the owner of an auto detail shop called 'Stacy's Detail.'
The Jacksonville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is continuing to investigate the situation.
The following statement was released by the Jacksonville Police Department:
On 10/20/2012 at approximately 0410 hours, Jacksonville Police Department dispatchers received a 911 call about a shooting at Stacy's Club located at 2005 North Jackson Jacksonville Texas. Officers from the Jacksonville Police Department responded and located the shooting victim, Stacy Dewayne Hunter, B/M DOB 11/01/1968. Officers of the Jacksonville Police Department cleared the building and requested EMS to respond to the scene to provide medical care for Hunter. Hunter died at the scene and Jacksonville Police Department Criminal Investigation Division Detectives responded to the scene to conduct a homicide investigation. The witness to the shooting provided a description of the suspect who turned himself into custody at approximately 0630 hours. The suspect was identified as Jimmy Deshawn Mosley B/M DOB 03/20/1988. Numerous witnesses have been interviewed in this case and the investigation is continuing. Mosley has been charged with Capital murder and his bond has been set at $250,000. He is still in custody at this time.
