John Wilson arrived at Guadalcanal soon after marines landed there in
1942. He was to see a number of south sea islands before returning home
in 1945.
Perhaps Wilson's biggest challenge was the hospital he built at Muda, New Georgia.
Immediately
after Wilson had surveyed the area for the hospital, a Japanese bomber
dropped a load of bombs in the area, leaving a huge
crater.
Bomb crater or not, a new hospital soon rose from the ashes.
