A Kenton County judge has extended a restraining order against the ex-husband of Sarah Jones.
Jones, the former Ben-Gal and high school teacher, wanted the extended restraining order against her ex-husband, Nate Wilburn. She claims he made threats of murder-suicide and said he would break her neck.
The most recent threat allegedly happened on Oct. 7, the day before Jones admitted in court to having a sexual relationship with a student while she was a teacher at Dixie Heights High School.
Wilburn admitted the allegations, and the judge granted the protection order for three years, and gave Jones to option to extend it again after the three years if she still does not feel safe.
Jones' attorney, Eric Deters, said he was pleased and shocked that Wilburn did not contest the allegations. Deters said he had audio proof as well as several e-mails, Facebook messages and text messages to support Jones' claims.
As part of Jones' plea deal, she avoided jail time and will not have to register as a sex offender.
