TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas fugitive is in jail on Tuesday, after trying to run and hide from officials in some Tyler-area woods.

The man ran out the back door of a house on Winona Street, and into a wooded area off of East Gentry Parkway, near Tyler Steel.

Smith County Adult Probation Officers were serving a felony warrant on 24-year-old Joshua Cook.

Officers from several agencies responded to the chase and were able to find and arrest Cook.

He was wanted for physical tampering and or fabricating evidence.

Cook is now charged with evading arrest and is held in the Smith County Jail.
