HOOKS, TX (KLTV) -

Bond has not been set for a Hooks, Texas, police officer, accused of stabbing a woman with syringes filled with animal tranquilizer.

Bowie County deputies say they were called to the home of Sgt. David Horn on Moss Lane in Hooks just before midnight for a report of stabbing.

Deputies say they arrived to find an unresponsive female lying on the floor with blood on and around her. They were told she had been stabbed with syringes from an unknown animal tranquilizer.

She was airlifted to a Texarkana hospital, where she is in intensive care in very serious condition.

A male family member living in the home told deputies that Horn had assaulted her and also pointed a gun at his head and threatened to shoot him.

David Horn, 44, was arrested for aggravated assault, deadly conduct and cited to court for a charge of assault by contact. Bond has not been set.

Hooks Police Chief Keith Schutte says Horn, a 15-year veteran of the police force, has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

His bond is set at $600,000.
