A&M quarterback makes Tyler grandparents proud

Since 1949 Loggins Restaurant in Tyler has been known for its homemade pies, banana pudding and fried chicken. Now it's becoming more known for it's Aggie decor.

"I was loyal to Texas," said Jerry Loggins. "But not anymore."

Loggins and his wife Lyana didn't have a choice. Their grandson is Texas A&M starting quarterback Johnny Manziel.

"Johnny has his own game and that's why they call it 'Johnny Football,"' said Lyana Loggins.

Before he become known as 'Johnny Football', Johnny Manziel ran the fields of Tyler.

"He (Manziel) was good in football, baseball and golf," said Manziel's grandmother.  "He has a whole room full of trophies."

Shortly before high school, Manziel moved to Kerrville where he became the Texas high school player of the year.

"When Johnny gets on the field, he's a different person," said Lyana Loggins.  "He loves the game so much."

Now the Aggies love 'Johnny Football.' The redshirt freshman has already broken the SEC record for total yards in a game, once held by Archie Manning.

"We can't wait for the next game," said Jerry Loggins.

Loggins Restaurant is closed on Saturdays. Lyana and Jerry have two seats reserved at Kyle Field.

"An hour can go real slow, but a year goes real fast," said Lyana Loggins.  "We know how fast his high school years went, so we're just all going to try to enjoy it."
