Larry Centers holds charity golf tournament

LONGVIEW, TEXAS (KLTV) - The average length of an NFL player is said to be about 3 and a half years.

East Texan Larry Centers played 14 seasons.

The super bowl champion was back in East Texas today hosting a golf tournament for the Boys and Girls Club of Rusk county.

"I've done some things with the Arizona Cardinal, I've done some things with the Boys and Girls Club with different teams I've played with," said Centers. "It was an easy fit and a good fit, so I was just trying to give something back that gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling inside."

Centers had an impressive NFL career, but today, it was outfit that was impressive.

Plaid purple/white/grey pants with a purple shirt.

Not many guys could pull this look off.

"Sometimes I do just to get a laugh out of the guys I'm playing with. I wouldn't dare wear this any where else but the golf course."

Adrian Peterson Day will have a different feel to it this year for a couple reasons. The 11th annual event to honor the East Texan is taking place in Peterson's hometown of Palestine on Saturday, but there will not be a parade like normal. Also, for the first time, the running back won't be pumping up his upcoming season with the Vikings.
