An East Texas baby could be coming home this weekend after spending nearly three weeks in the NICU.
On September 14, Heather Brown, at just 34 weeks pregnant, had a brain aneurysm which put her into a coma, forcing doctors to save the baby by an emergency C-section. Heather remains in a coma. But now, almost three weeks later and weighing five pounds and one ounce, baby John Brown could be close to heading home. However, a lot had to be done in his nursery to prepare for his arrival. "The friends and family and church members have really gathered around and helped pull those things together. I think the room would really make Heather proud," said family friend Charity Robinson. Robinson says it's hard to see one of her close friends still in a coma, but she's trying to do what Heather would want her to do for baby John. "You want everything perfect for whenever that baby comes home, and I'm trying to make sure I can do that for her," said Robinson. Heather's husband, Sean Brown, who is currently on leave from the Army, remains at the hospital by Heather's side, but is happy to see the progress of his little son, John.
Friends and family created a Facebook page last week to post updates, and now have more than 40,000 likes.
The Browns are grateful for all the local support and prayers they are receiving. You can fin a link to their page by going to our homepage, and clicking on the Big Red Box.
