Longview Ham Radio Contest

A Longview group of amateur radio operators have undergone a grueling 24 hour marathon in a national competition that tests emergency preparedness. It's the superbowl for members of the Longview east Texas amateur radio club in a 24 hour national competition.

The exercise is against other ham operators around the country to score points for the most radio contacts. But more important the operators are getting good practice at staying in touch with other operators around the world. Battery or generator operated, ham operators see themselves as the last line of defense in communications in the event of a local or national emergency.
