The Society for Creative Anachronism from Longview was in Tyler today. They re-enacted life in the Middle Ages and put on combat demonstrations for a group of children at the Tyler Public Library.
"We're hoping that they'll love history again," Julia Riner, one of the performers, said. "My kids, especially, they'll say, 'Mom, I hate history.' Well, for someone who loves history, that's a harsh thing to hear. And history is what makes us not repeat our mistakes. So we're hoping that people will get a love of history again."
The group also demonstrated weaving, calligraphy, and other medieval arts and crafts.
