Two six-year old East Texans will be playing for a national championship, with teammates they've never even met. Tyler's Alex Rubin and Cole Wilkins will be playing on Nike Team Breakaway, a six and under team based out of Philadelphia. They have been playing locally since they were four, and were chosen for the national team sight unseen.
"[Team Breakaway's coach] was looking for a couple of good six and under skaters and came across Alex and Cole's statistics on the website here," said Alex's Dad Christopher Rubin. "We connected by phone and started talking about it. Then they were invited to play in this tournament."
Alex and Cole will be playing in the national tournament July 3 through 5. The tournament takes place in Taylor, Michigan.
