Health Dept., TISD to hold informative whooping cough meeting
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Three Tyler ISD students have confirmed cases of Whooping Cough, or Pertussis. Now, Tyler ISD and the Northeast Texas Public Health District is teaming up to inform parents on how to prevent the spread of the disease.
On Thursday, September 27, NETHealth and TISD will host a meeting for both parents and community members who have questions about the disease.
Dr. Jonathan MacClements, Smith County Health Authority and Russell Hopkins, the director of preparedness and disease surveillance, will speak about how to best prevent the spread of whooping cough among children and adults.
Nancy Jones, TISD's Coordinator of Health Services will provide information on the school district's actions to protect students.
The event will be at 6:30 on Thursday, September 27 at the Davidson Conference Center, located at 807 W. Glenwood Blvd.
