Longview police catch alleged truck thief after foot chase

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

A suspected truck thief is in police custody after a short foot chase.

Around 10:30 a.m., Longview Police responded to a possible stolen pick up truck on Signal Hill Drive. When police arrived on the scene the suspect bolted from the truck and ran into the woods.

After a short foot chase, police were able to apprehend the suspect, who was carrying numerous items from the pick up truck, including several fishing poles.

The suspect is in custody and police are now searching for the owner of the pick up truck.

The truck was reported as stolen, registered out of Louisiana.

The suspect is being charged with evading arrest and motor vehicle theft.
