Tyler police ID victims in overnight shooting

Tyler police have released the identities of the two victims involved in an overnight shooting that occurred at the Cambridge Apartments.

Kendrick Harper, 24, of Dallas and Brandon, Rainwater, 24, of Cedar Hill stated they were asleep in their vehicle at the rear of the apartment complex in the 3,000 block of Old Omen Road, around 3:30 am, when the suspect opened their car door and told them to give him everything they had. The suspect fired a gun into the vehicle several times, striking Rainwater in the leg and Harper in the head, shoulder, and wrist.

In an earlier report, the victims advised after playing a dice game, they were sitting in their vehicle in the parking lot talking, when an unknown black male wearing a black shirt approached their vehicle and pulled open the car door and began shooting them with a small handgun. The victims say the suspect then fled on foot.

The victims drove themselves to the hospital for treatment.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing a black and white shirt.

The investigation is on-going. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000.
